What is the best captain's seat for a camper van? One that mounts the way your build does. Timber's captain's seats ride on L-track with BraunAbility seat lockers, so you can bolt a seat in for good or lift it out when you want the floor back. Each has a 3-point harness, padded armrests and a recline of roughly 15 degrees, and comes as a single seat or a two-person seat, on its own or as a kit with the track and lockers to mount it. Seat alone or seat kit?

Buy the seat alone if your van already has L-track and lockers. Buy the kit if it does not: it adds two 50" L-tracks, four end caps, two BraunAbility seat lockers and the hardware that attaches the lockers to the seat. The bolts that fix the track to your floor are not included.

Single or two-person?

The single seat suits a narrower floor or a layout with an aisle. The two-person seat adds child restraints and is 39.6" wide; its legs adjust from 8.5" to 26".

What is a captain's seat in a camper van?

A single passenger seat with its own armrests and seatbelt, added behind the cab so more people can ride facing forward. Ours has a black leatherette cover, a 3-point harness with a switchable retractor, padded armrests and map pockets, reclines roughly 15 degrees, and has legs that adjust from 2.5" to 10".

How does it mount in the van?

On L-track, with BraunAbility seat lockers: a step on the locker's actuator locks the seat into the track, and a safety catch stops an accidental release. It can be a fixed installation or removable. The lockers fit any rail with scallops at one-inch centers; they do not fit the van's factory seats.

Will it fit my Sprinter, Transit or ProMaster?

The seat, two 50" L-tracks, four end caps, two BraunAbility seat lockers and the hardware that attaches the lockers to the seat. The hardware that bolts the L-track to your floor is not included.
